Fred Doughty W3PHL:

Frederic C. Doughty, 77, husband of Barbara J. Doughty, of Valley Forge, died Friday evening, March 30, 2007, in the Paoli Hospital, Paoli.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Dennis R. and Dorothy Doughty. Mr. Doughty was a 1947 graduate of the Lower Merion High School.

A veteran, he served for the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then received a masters degree in electrical engineering from the Widener University after many years of night school. Mr. Doughty owned and operated the Acme Gear and Machine Company in Philadelphia for over 30 years before retiring in 2006.

He received his amateur radio license when he was 14 years old. Mr. Doughty was also a member of the Roosters Club. Along with his wife, Mr. Doughty was a member of the Main Line power squadron since 1983.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Doughty is survived by; one daughter; Denise R., wife of Harold H. Cheney, of South Coventry, one son; Frederic C. Doughty Jr., husband of Mai Doughty, of South Coventry, and 12 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Doughty was pre-deceased by two brothers; William and James, and one sister; Christina.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 10 a.m.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of one's choice in Mr. Doughty's memory.
